The trend of using reclaimed lumber or weathered-looking wood in homes is more popular now than ever.
Unfortunately, the limited supply of reclaimed wood makes it prohibitively expensive to buy for many potential customers. At Industrial Brush, we have years of experience using new wood and making it look weathered; a process that will add value to your product line and unlock a new group of buyers.
Understanding the correct combination of wire and abrasive brushes is crucial in producing a product that looks naturally aged. Bursten Brush Company has spent over 20 years lab testing and working with industry-leading customers to learn the correct brush types, rotational speeds and feed rates to produce any distressed look on the most popular species of wood. We are pleased to now share that knowledge with you.
Complete Line of Wire Brushes
Bursten Brush Company offers a complete line of Wire Brushes in stainless steel, carbon steel, brass and brass coated carbon steel. Wires diameters are offered in .008”, .012”, .014”, .016”, .020” and .025” single strand wire. We also offer braided wire in .045” diameter.
Our wire brushes are made using a double-banded winding machine, giving us the ability to run light gauge or heavy gauge wires with maximum wire density, which allows customers to heavily distress the product while maintaining maximum brush life. Brush density can be varied by changing the pitch of the spiral to a more open wind, should you want to follow the grain in your structuring patterns in both softwood and hardwood products. We can also vary the trim type on our wire brushes to be smooth or rough in order to accommodate the amount of randomness that you want in your distressed pattern.
Abrasive Distressing
Industrial Brush also manufactures abrasive distressing brushes, important to use after wire brushing or hand scraping in order to remove fuzz and sand the structured part of the grain prior to finishing. Abrasive brushes are also used on soft woods for light texturing. These brushes can be seen on our Sanding Brushes page.
