Industrial Brush manufactures its sanding brushes using abrasive nylon.
Unlike conventional sandpaper which only has a surface coating, nylon bristle is abrasive-impregnated. As the nylon wears down, new grit layers are continuously exposed providing stable sanding performance and added brush life. We offer grits ranging from 500 to 46 grit to suit most any wood sanding application. Bursten Brush has over 20 years of experience working with coating suppliers, OEM’s, and manufacturers of wood products alike.
Flat-Part Sanding Brush
Our Fineset dense brush with a 1-5/8″ long bristle, a length which maximizes bristles per square inch, is used for the finishing of panelized hardwood flooring, flat pack furniture, veneer panels, and flush doors. Using this length and density provides a uniform sanding pattern across the surface of flat parts. This brush density and bristle length, if used with the proper interference and speed, is optimal for white wood sanding, stain denibbing and sealer sanding without breaking through your finish.
Uneven Part Sanding Brush
For the finishing process of cabinet doors, raised panel interior doors, molding and trim, a longer bristle is needed. We offer custom designed brush patterns to suit most applications. Our Fineset spiral brush has longer bristles arranged in individual spiral rows which creates space for the bristle to bend and conform to irregular surfaces. The small diameter and extra length of the bristles allows them to wrap around corners and sand in the smallest profiles without loss of detail in the wood.
Reclaimed Wood Brush
Sanding brushes have become an important part of the recycling process for reclaimed timber products. They are an excellent choice to clean up reclaimed wood. We can recommend the proper grit, bristle length brush density and rotational speed to sand reclaimed siding, barn wood, decking, mushroom wood and timbers without removing the natural patina in the wood. Our customers also have experience using these brushes to sand and texture burned-wood, referred to as Shou Sugi Ban.
Sanding brushes have become an integral tool throughout the many steps in the wood finishing process.
White Wood Brushes
Prior to the application of stain, our Fineset white wood sanding brush can be used to gently break sharp edges on unfinished parts. This sanding process reduces the chances of breaking through your finish in the later stages of your finishing process. White wood sanding brushes also remove excess dust from the pores of your wood to ensure even stain penetration without removing excess material from your part surfaces.
Stain Denibbing Brushes
Once stain is applied to raw wood parts, hair like fibers called “nibbs” are raised up in the wood grain which is referred to as “grain pop”. Sanding your stained parts with our Fineset stain denibbing brushes with the proper grit at the correct rotational speed can remove nibbs without changing the stain color. This can yield significant cost savings compared to sanding these nibbs after application of a base coat of filler or sealer.
Fill Coat / Sealer Sanding
Using our sealer / fill coat sanding brushes to scuff the surface of the wood in between coats of finish is the best way to ensure proper adhesion. Our Fineset sanding brushes put micro scratches in the coating without breaking through the finish on most solvent, water based, 100% solid and UV coating systems. We can recommend the proper grit, bristle length and rotational speed to perform almost any sanding function.
